Europe: Chrome VI to be restricted in leather articles

1 September 2013

Chrome VI will be restricted in leather articles, following a public consultation by the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA).

The restriction, published in the European Official Journal, applies to all leather articles, or articles containing leather parts, which are likely to come into contact with the skin (second-hand products are exempt). Starting in 2014, their chromium VI content must not surpass 3 mg per kg.
