India: Leather leader seeks larger share of market

Clariant have opened an Indian leather excellence centre at a cost of Rs 5.8 crore.

The site is located in Ranipet, Chennai. Clariant already has major production sites at Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu and Roha, Maharashtra.

"We are committed to the long term development of our services and products for India's leather sector. We see the country's leather related businesses growing and we expect to see above average growth for our products and services," announced global leather business unit head Oliver Kinkel.

He went on to reveal that Clariant are looking for double-digit growth in India. The company currently represents less than 1% of the country's speciality chemicals industry.
