Smit & zoon, a leading global supplier of wet-end and finishing leather chemicals for tanneries, has opened a sales office for India in Chennai.
The Dutch leather chemicals specialist already has a Leather Application Laboratory in nearby Ranipet, plus agents in Ambur and Ranipet, Chennai and Vaniyambadi, Delhi, Jalandhar and Kolkata.
“This opening is another example of our sustained efforts to grow the global position of our wet-end and finishing leather chemicals, and proof of Smit & zoon’s long-term commitment to the Indian market,” said CEO Hans van Haarst. “The Indian market is important to us and this expansion will bring us closer to our Indian customers, allowing us to support them better in their needs to create high quality, sustainably produced leather.”
