Stephen Sothmann, president of the US Hide, Skin and Leather Association, has been appointed to the Agricultural Technical Advisory Committee for Trade (ATAC) in Animals and Animal Products.
His appointment was made effective on June 15 and will expire on June 15, 2018.
The ATAC is a private sector body that provides technical advice on US agricultural trade issues to the Secretary of Agriculture and US Trade Representative. Jointly administered by the Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the Office of the US Trade Representative (USTR), the ATAC was established under the Trade Act of 1974.
As an ATAC member, Sothmann will play a significant role in developing agricultural trade policy, providing advice on negotiating objectives and strategies.
