Leading leather processor and finisher TFL has became a recognized ZDHC (Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals) value chain affiliate.
The ZDHC programme aims to eliminate hazardous chemicals in the global textile, leather and footwear value chains. Its manufacturing restricted substances list (MRSL) details more than 150 chemicals to eliminate from intentional use in chemical products used for leather manufacture. Using MRSL-compliant chemical products helps tanners to comply with the multitude of restricted substance lists (RSL) for leather.
Membership of ZDHC is an important step by TFL towards its product stewardship strategy, which is to offer safe chemical products to customers and give advice on their safe use to protect employees, public health and the environment.
Dr Peter Amann, CEO TFL Group, states: "TFL sees the membership of ZDHC as a strong fit with our strategy of providing ‘Great Chemicals. Excellent Advice’ to our customers. We are committed to working together with our customers to drive improvements in product strategy and we are supporting this by developing and launching safer, more environmentally friendly products."
