‘Meeting the environmental challenge’ is the subject of the BLC Leather Technology Centre Cleantech 2001 seminar scheduled for November 1 and 2, near Birmingham , UK.

The seminar, which is open to the tanning and associated industries worldwide, has been timed to tie in with Lineapelle in Italy to facilitate participation by a wide international audience.

Covering a range of issues relating to clean technology and reducing environmental impact, the programme is specifically designed to demonstrate the real achievements of tanners and practical solutions from the BLC based on research and case studies. Speakers will include industrialists and technologists, all sharing their knowledge and experience in addressing environmental challenges.

Subjects will cover:

* solid and liquid tannery wastes and how to deal with them effectively at realistic costs

* all aspects of leather processing from beamhouse through tanning and dyeing to finishing

* the needs and environmental expectations of leather users and customers for the global leather producer of the future.
