The annual meeting of the recently merged Spanish tanners associations, CEC-FECUR, will be held in Barcelona, June 14-16.

It will be held in conjunction with a number of other events.

The annual assembly of Cotance will be held at the same time and it is anticipated that Josep Costa, director, Serpelsa Furs, will be re-elected to represent the Spanish sector and will become the next president of Cotance as Spain takes up the presidency. Costa is currently Cotance vice-president.

It is also hoped, but not yet confirmed, that delegates will be informed of the outcome of meetings between the Consejo Español de la Piel, Spanish community administrations and trade unions. Topics under discussion include workforce pay and conditions and the impact of new technology on the leather industry. The Consejo Español de la Piel is the overall association of leather sector associations representing the tanning, footwear, leathergoods, garment and fur industries in Spain. The EU funded Social Dialogue programme will support the meeting.
