BASF introduces its 'Inspirations for Leather – Edition Livigno' Autumn/Winter 2017/2018 trends

BASF has introduced its new 'Inspirations for Leather' catalogue outlining four leather trends for the Autumn/Winter 2017/2018 season, under the name 'Edition Livigno'.
The Autumn/Winter 2017/2018 collection has a vibrant colour palate filled with contrasts accompanied by ubiquitous black leather and suggestive neutral tones. The new season offers many alternatives to reveal the more evocative and inspiring side of autumn forest colours.
"Through this catalogue, we reveal new value in everyday colors, while presenting innovative possibilities for lifestyle change," said Alex Wartini, BASF's vice-president for Leather Chemicals. "Illuminating the creative potential of colour, not simply in terms of its aesthetic beauty but in combination with various forms, materials and technologies, our Edition Livigno explores the functional uses of colour and attempts to achieve a perfect balance between materials and designs."
The Leather Chemicals unit, a leading global supplier of chemical solutions to the leather industry, produces "Inspirations for Leather" twice a year. Every edition seeks to answer customers needs related to fashion leathers for shoes, leather goods and garment applications. The leather trends are available as a catalogue with coloured leather swatches showing the range of dyes, a recipe booklet and a poster. The new trends contain recipes and processes which allow customers to immediately apply to their own collections.
The season's four macro-trends are:
Entremelées is inspired by the lovely chromatic transformation of the forests with their typical reddish browns, touch of orange, khaki green accompanied by ochre tones and the blue of nightfall. The leathers and their shiny finishes are soft to the touch and simulate the graphics and coloring of tree bark, camouflage of the forest floor and woody aspects.
Radical is associated with tones and textures that have a dramatic, more daring effect. These refined leathers tend to come with a more industrial, innovative concept: matte effects, simple materials, leathers splashed with futuristic graphics and a light look.
The third macro-trend, Anodin, includes timeless modernity for some designs on leather that play with the typical hues for autumn and winter, together with neutral touches. These include leathers in solid and mixed colors with geometric prints.
Lastly, Taciturne, inspired by the night, proposes a reality seen through the filters of nocturnal light. Overlapping of materials creates dimensional effects. Bright patent leather, nappas and leathers with a wrinkled effect. All accompanied by a certain Asian influence: light materials, predominately dark claret, red, and dark blue and green.
"Inspirations for Leather" is published more than a year and a half in advance so the tanneries can plan production more easily.
