The SAPICA fair, physical and virtual, managed to improve its results despite the complex situation in Mexico

SAPICA, the shoe and leather goods fair, was held in presence from March 7 to 11 at the Poliforum in the city of León, Mexico. The organizers reported that the deals concluded exceeded the expected expectations of the exhibiting companies.

According to the Guanajuato shoe chamber, CICEG, the sector is heading towards a recovery phase for the second half of this year, in search of normalizing the pace of work in the current situation.

The presence of local buyers was 1,580, compared to 1,111 in the previous edition, which represents an increase of 42.2%. Regarding the traffic of international buyers, their attendance grew 52% more than in the previous one. The figures, however, are far from those of March 2019, and show the harsh conditions imposed on the industry by the cruel Covid-19 pandemic.

The SAPICA Digital modality achieved an important success since it had 215 exhibitors and 859 buyers. It was made possible by the organization of the show itself with the support of the Government of the State of Guanajuato and the City of León, as well as other institutions.

The organizers of the show announced the preparations for the 85th edition, which will probably take place in August, in order to continue supporting the recovery of the footwear and leather goods sector.
